Allowing IP addresses with Safeguard
Under certain circumstances, it may be necessary to allow individual IP addresses in Safeguard. Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about the release of IP addresses in Safeguard.
Why might it be necessary to allow an IP address?
- If you operate Safeguard in standard mode, you have the option of blocking access to certain countries. If you want to allow an external service or a user from a blocked country to access your radio program, you must first allow the IP address that is located in the country you have blocked.
- If you activate the “Secure system” option, no one will be able to access your radio program. You must allow each service or listener individually so that they can access your radio program.
In which formats can I allow IP addresses?
The process works in exactly the same way as for blocking IP addresses. Read the frequently asked questions about blocking IP addresses to find out how to use the input screen for allowing IP addresses.
How can I find out the IP address of an external service?
In the simplest case, contact the operator of the service directly and ask which IP addresses or IP ranges you need to release in order to be able to use the service.
Users with advanced knowledge can try to ping the operator’s URL. In most cases, however, this will not be successful. Many providers use external systems to integrate their program, which are not always immediately apparent.
