The following FAQ article will guide you step-by-step through the setup in the Chrome Web Store.

Registration in the Chrome Webstore

Click on the following link to register in the Chrome Webstore.

Publish browser plugin in the Chrome Web Store

Click on “New item” at the top right of the Chrome Web Store dashboard.

Now upload the browser plugin that you previously downloaded from the SPCast administration.

Store entry

Fill in all references in the Store entry area. Use our example as a guide. However, make sure to use your own descriptions.

Finally, scroll back to the top and click on “Save”.

Data privacy policy

Refer to our examples again. In particular, use our specifications for the “Offscreen”, “Storage” and “Host authorization”.

Sole purpose

The extension is used to provide a web radio stream. It allows the user to listen to the stream in the background while surfing the Internet.

Reason for “Offscreen”

This authorization is required to enable audio streaming in the background. The extension uses offscreen.html to keep the web radio stream running independently of visible tabs. This ensures that the user can enjoy seamless audio playback even while surfing.

Reason for “Storage”

This authorization is used to save user-defined settings such as the preferred radio station or volume settings locally. This keeps the user experience consistent and customized even if the browser is restarted.

Reason for “host authorization”

Host authorization is required to retrieve audio content from different domains. Radio stations and metadata can be located on different servers. This authorization enables the extension to load streams and supporting content such as cover images and song information.

Finally, scroll back to the top and click on “Save” again.
