AutoDJ and live broadcasting with SPCast

AutoDJ plays prepared music and recorded shows without requiring your studio computer to broadcast continuously. Connect a live encoder for presented shows. Set up both routes using a small test playlist first.

Prepare MP3 files

AutoDJ accepts MP3 only. Convert other formats before uploading and keep the originals locally. Check levels, track information and the beginning and end of files. The base plan includes 50 GB of AutoDJ storage; check available space before large uploads.

AAC, M4A, OGG and FLAC are supported for live broadcasting. That support does not allow uploading these files to AutoDJ and depends on the software used to send and receive audio.

Create a playlist and schedule

1. Open AutoDJ through product management and upload a few checked MP3 files.
2. Create a playlist and assign the files. Review the order and playback settings.
3. If using a schedule, check weekdays, times and the time zone configured in your management interface.
4. Let the playlist start and listen on a second device using the public stream URL.

Take over live and return to AutoDJ

Use the intended broadcaster account and copy its connection settings from product management. The BUTT and Mixxx guides cover the Icecast route with MP3.

Start the encoder once it has an audio signal. Listen on a second device to confirm the live source becomes audible. Then stop the encoder connection and keep listening until AutoDJ returns. Check the actual playback delay; encoding, transmission and players can introduce buffering.

Diagnose silence or an unexpected programme

For silence, check the encoder level and audio source first. For the wrong programme, check the playlist, schedule and time zone. If AutoDJ does not return after disconnecting, check its status, assigned playlist and the account used. Avoid updating the environment during a show: changes may require restarting the stream.
