Set up SPCast and hear your test stream
For the first test, you need a provisioned SPCast environment, access to the customer portal, a few MP3 files you have permission to broadcast and a second listening device. For the live test, also prepare your broadcasting software and an audio source. Test outside an announced show.
Open product management
Sign in to the STREAMPANEL customer portal. Open product management for your SPCast service. Check the environment status and keep the displayed stream and connection details available.
Distinguish the public listening URL from broadcaster credentials. Your encoder needs the host, port, username, password and mount point of the intended account. Copy these values from management rather than deriving them from the listening URL. Do not use credentials from screenshots of other stations.
Start AutoDJ with a small playlist
- Open AutoDJ and upload a few MP3 files. AutoDJ accepts MP3 only.
- Create a playlist, assign the files and review playback or schedule settings.
- Start or enable playback using the controls provided. Check whether AutoDJ reports a playing track.
- Open the public listening URL on the second device and start the player. Listen through at least one track change.
If management reports a track but you hear no sound, check the player volume, output device and direct listening URL. Use headphones so monitoring audio does not later feed back into your live microphone.
Connect the live encoder
Choose the guide for BUTT, Mixxx or other broadcasting software. For the first test, use Icecast and MP3 with your broadcaster account details. Enable TLS only as specified for that encoder connection.
Check the input level, start connecting and observe connection status. Listen on the second device to confirm the live signal arrives. Successful authentication alone does not establish audible output. Note the delay you hear.
Check the return and your website
Disconnect the encoder and keep listening until AutoDJ resumes. Check levels and track information before and after switching. The automation guide explains playlist and transition checks.
Only then embed the player on your website. Test on mobile and desktop devices. During a provider migration, keep the previous settings available until the test passes.
Report useful diagnostic details
For rejected authentication, compare the username, password, mount point and letter case. For timeouts, check host, port, TLS requirements and the local firewall. For silence despite a connection, check the audio source and levels. If AutoDJ does not resume, check its status, playlist and the broadcaster account used.
A support request should include the time and time zone, software version, error message and the step that failed. Remove passwords from screenshots and public posts.
